Recreation Rules

General Rules 

  1. The club offers a coed program from U4 to U6 and separate boys and girls divisions thereafter.  Team assignments are made by districts/school of the county and by age.

  2. Age classification for the fall and spring season will be determined by the child’s birth year.  Playing down out of a players age classification is not allowed’

  3. TESC subscribes to the USYSA seasonal year beginning August 1st of any given year and ending July 31 of the following year or on July 31st of any subsequent year for the purposes of team formation as well as the establishment of age classification?

  4. Proof of age is required at the time of registration unless previously provided.

  5. The club has the option to vary age groups in order to form teams and divisions annually.

Team Formation

  1. The recreation Director will plan and conduct player registration prior to each season and will establish the dates for closing registration and initiation of the team formation process.  Recreation registration forms will be accepted until the close of registration date as set by the Rec Director, at which point players may be waitlisted but are not guaranteed a place on a team

  2. Registration fees are due at time of registration.

  3. A team’s official roster shall consist of the players allocated to that specific team.

  4. Coaches will receive team rosters at the Coaches Meeting or upon completion.  Risk Management must be completed before the roster is released to Coach!

  5. Returning players for the spring season will be assigned to the team on which he/she played in the previous season taking into consideration any/all registration guidelines regarding time of registration.  If a player requests to be reassigned to another team, the allocation of a player may take place at the discretion of the Recreation Director.

  6. Players moving up in age classification and first-time players will be allocated to teams based on the geographic location of residence within the age group.  

  7. If players would like to be allocated based on a location other than that of the residence or school (i.e. parent or guardian place of work, other family members, etc.), please make the request on the form at the time of registration.

  8. In the fall, the majority of players that register within the designated registration period will be allocated to the team they were on in the previous spring season.  A player who did not participate in the spring season will be assigned as a new player.

  9. Players will be placed in age division by birth year. Playing out of age classification is not allowed unless approved by the Rec Director.

  10. Players who register after the close of registration will be assigned to teams at the discretion of the Rec Director

  11. Special requests which do not conform to these formation guidelines must have approval of the Rec Director, the coach involved, and are only to be granted for serious reason.


4u / 5u / 6u Recreation Rules


Sides                                                                                                                                  

·  3 v 3. Minimum of 2 players to start and finish the game

. Roster Size = 4-5 players 

Ball

·  Size 3 - home team provides the game ball

Field and Goal Sizes

·  Maximum Field Size: 20 X 30 yards

·  Minimum Field Size: 15 X 20 yards

·  Goal Size: 4 X 6 feet

Game Length/Halftime

·  Four 8-minute quarters (Coaches can agree to play longer if time allows)

·  3 minute break between each quarter

Officials

·  The coach from each team will officiate and will be responsible for calls within their team’s defensive half of the field.

·  Both coaches can coach from their respective positions from the team bench and should be the only voice used to coach and facilitate the game.

·  All rules infractions shall be briefly explained to the offending player.

Substitutions

·  At the end of each quarter.

·  Each player should play at least one half of the game.

Equipment

·  Shinguards (under socks) are required

Uniforms

·  Names, numbers or similar enhancements to shirts are not allowed.

·  The home team wears red. The away team wears gray.

·  Black Shorts and Socks are encouraged

Goalkeepers

·  There is no goalkeeper in the U5 or U6 age group.

·  Players should be encouraged to play the entire field.

·  One player must not be left back on "defense" to serve as a “goalie”.

Age Specific Rules

·  All restarts are taken with dribble-in or kick-in.  No throw-ins are taken.

·  After a goal is scored, game is restarted with a Kick-Off.

·  A preference is for parents to simply knock the ball back into play to keep the flow of the game.

·  No offsides.

·  No direct free kicks. All fouls result in an indirect free kick.

·  All other rules abide by FIFA Laws of the Game.


7u Recreation Rules

·  Maximum Field Size: 30 X 40 yards

·  Minimum Field Size: 20 X 30 yards

·  2 Goal game: Goal Sizes: 4 X 6 feet

Game Length/Halftime

·  Four 10-minute quarters (Coaches can agree to play longer if time allows)

·  3 minute break between each quarter

Officials

·  The coach from each team will officiate and will be responsible for calls within their team’s defensive half of the field.

·  Both coaches can coach from their respective positions from the team bench and should be the only voice heard to facilitate the game.

·  All rules infractions shall be briefly explained to the offending player.

Substitutions

·  Substitution breaks should be taken at the end of each quarter, or during an out-of-bounds stoppage.

·  Each player should play at least one half of the game.

·  Alternate Substitution sequence is possible based on Coaches discretion.

Equipment

·  Shinguards (under socks) are required

Uniforms

·  Names, numbers or similar enhancements to shirts are not allowed.

·  The home team wears white. The away team wears navy.

·  Black Shorts and Socks are encouraged

Goalkeepers

·  There is no goalkeeper in the U7 age group.

·  Players should be encouraged to play the entire field.

·  One player must not be left back on "defense" to serve as a “goalie”.

Age Specific Rules

·  All restarts are taken with dribble-in or kick-in.  No throw-ins are taken.

·  On goal kicks, the opposing team must retreat to midfield.  They can move back into their offensive half once the ball is kicked and touched by another player on the other team.

·  After a goal is scored, game is restarted with a Kick-Off.

·  No corner kicks.

·  No offsides.

·  No direct free kicks. All fouls result in an indirect free kick.

·  All other rules abide by FIFA Laws of the Game
